By Don Decker, YAN News  01/25/19

Darlene Rubio (l) with Barbara McCabe, Apache culture specialist, work on a camp dress for Darlene.

With the annual Exodus event coming up, community members are preparing for a week of activities at the end of February (schedule forthcoming).

Currently, there are a series of classes being offered throughout the community. The Yavapai-Apache Nation Artist Guild Grant is also offering various crafts classes being taught by experts in their field that have just began.

These classes include traditional boot-making, dress making (3 different classes), bead making, wood burning etchings with Troy Kaska, watercolor classes and silversmithing.

For more information contact the culture departments (Reba Franco & Barbara McCabe), Monica Marquez and Laura Wathogoma on these offerings to YAN members.
