General election selects new chairperson and vice chairperson and 2 new council members

DATELINE September 21, 2019-Camp Verde

Jon Huey was selected as the new Chairperson for Yavapai-Apache Nation. Mr. Huey is the current police chief for the Nation and has served on the tribal council in the past as council member (see his bio on this website under campaign 2019 candidates).

For the position of Vice Chairperson, Tanya Lewis was selected. Ms. Lewis is the executive administrative assistant for the executive office. Ms. Lewis has also served on the tribal council once before (see her bio in the community news section under the campaign  2019 candidates).

For the 2 vacant council positions Apphia Shirley and Richard Pacheco were selected ( please review their bios under the community news section under the campaign 2019 candiates).

Pending the certification of the election in 3 days, the final official confirmation of the election will made after the 10-day waiting period after the 3-day certification date. This is to provide an opportunity for a “Challenge to the results of the election” if any.

An official inauguration  date of the selected new members will be announced by the Election Office  sometime shortly after the 10-day waiting period.
